Effective Date: July 16, 2026
1. Overview
These SMS Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your participation in the text messaging (“SMS”) program operated by the Georgia Institute of Cosmetology (“GIC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By opting in to receive text messages from GIC — including by checking the consent checkbox on our website forms — you agree to these Terms. Please also review our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information, including your mobile phone number.
2. The Program
The GIC SMS program is used to send messages related to your enrollment inquiry, including but not limited to:
- Confirmation that your enrollment inquiry was received.
- Scheduling and reminders for admissions interviews or campus visits.
- Follow-up information about GIC’s cosmetology and cosmetology instructor programs, financial aid, and enrollment deadlines.
- General customer service responses to questions you submit.
This program does not currently include recurring promotional or marketing campaigns unrelated to your enrollment inquiry. If that changes, GIC will update these Terms accordingly.
3. How to Opt In
You may opt in to the GIC SMS program by:
- Checking the SMS consent checkbox when submitting an enrollment, contact, or interest form on gic.edu; or
- Providing your mobile number directly to GIC staff and verbally or in writing confirming your consent to receive text messages.
Consent to receive autodialed or automated text messages is not required as a condition of enrolling in any GIC program or purchasing any goods or services.
4. Message Frequency and Cost
Message frequency varies depending on your enrollment status, the campus you are interested in, and the nature of your inquiry. You may receive more messages during active scheduling or admissions periods and fewer thereafter.
Message and data rates may apply. Standard messaging rates charged by your mobile carrier will apply to all SMS communications sent as part of this program. GIC is not responsible for any charges from your wireless carrier related to your participation in this program.
5. How to Opt Out (STOP) and Get Help (HELP)
5.1 Opting Out
You can cancel the SMS program at any time. Simply reply STOP to any text message you receive from GIC. After you send the message STOP, we will send you a one-time confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out, and you will no longer receive SMS messages from us unless you opt in again later (for example, by submitting a new form with consent checked).
5.2 Getting Help
If you are experiencing issues with the program, reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact GIC directly using the information in Section 8 below.
5.3 Alternative Opt-Out Methods
In addition to replying STOP, you may also opt out by contacting any GIC campus location directly by phone or email and requesting removal from the SMS program.
6. Supported Carriers
Our SMS program is intended for use on major U.S. wireless carrier networks. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. T-Mobile is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, where applicable.
AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Boost, U.S. Cellular, and other major U.S. carriers
7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
- GIC, its campuses, and its messaging service providers (including Twilio) are not liable for any delays or failures in the delivery of any message, as message delivery is subject to effective transmission from your network operator.
- SMS message services are provided on an “as-is” basis.
- GIC reserves the right to change, suspend, or discontinue the SMS program, in whole or in part, at any time, with or without notice.
- These Terms may be updated periodically; the “Effective Date” at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
